LEGEND
WEST COUNTRY LEGENDS: PRINCE BLADUD AND THE PIGS
Legend has it that around 860 BC, Prince Bladud contracted leprosy and was banished, finding solace in tending pigs with a similar affliction. Observing the pigs cured by wallowing in local hot mud, he followed their lead and healed himself. Returning to the Kingdom as the ninth king of the Britons, he later founded the city of Bath on the site of these springs.
If you ever find yourself in need of some healing… wade in, pig out and enjoy these tangy and indulgent Bath Blue wafers.
During the production of blue cheese, it is ‘spiked’ to allow oxygen to circulate, encouraging the growth of mould. This vital process softens the texture and cultivates the cheese’s distinctive tangy flavour, resulting in the characteristic blue veins that are both visually striking and delicious.
